This poem was written by my grandfather when I was in grade 6 (approx. 1988). Evidently he found one of my school books on the kitchen table and left it for me to find one day when I was bored in class. This poem is a treasure to me because it reminds me of his down-to-earth character, his strong tie to nature and his creative spirit. I illustrated his poem with a simple sketch and every time I look at this, I feel connected to him even though he's no longer standing here.
